Normally when I post about photos taken at a museum I start with the first photos I took but this time I would like to start with one of the last photos which I took at the “Lange Nacht der Museen” here in Vienna (long night of museums).
We visited the “Naturhistorische Museum” here in Vienna – The Natural History Museum Vienna – where I found a jug from the 7th century BC – showing a woman working at a loom, another woman spinning, a musician and two female dancers – I thought the weavers and spinners among you could be interested:
…and for the readers of my blog who are interested into ceramics:
…very old and rather small female statues:
…or do you like dinosaurs?
…or interesting old “Fossilien”?
…or would you like to see a small piece from the moon?
…and I am quite sure many steam punk fans would love to have this “Planetenmaschine” at home:
…and besides old bones, some very old pottery and some diamonds I also found this very lovely colored and/or patterned gems and minerals:
…btw. do you know that Kellogg is a mineral? woooohoooo! *lol*
If you have a package of Kelloggs at home, I am quite sure you’ll have a funny breakfast thinking of this mineral… *grins*

those white lacy fossils make me want to embroider something that looks like that. And the Rubenesque female statue, isn’t she the Willendorf goddess image? If not she’s very like it. Wonderful museum, thanks for sharing.
Yes, it’s a photo of the real Willendorf goddess statue
…the other one is maybe even more intersting – she is even older and looks like a female dancer
aaaahhh, die Mineralienabteilung, mein Lieblingsteil des Naturhistorischen. Könnte Tage dort verbringen…
