Bayeux Stitch and round shapes…
For all who know the Bayeux Stitch technique – this is my interpretation of filling round shapes (interpretation is based on some pictures of the bayeux tapestry – book: David M. Wilson – Der Teppich von Bayeux):
Step 1: The second line of base threads has to be worked staggerd to get round the corner / than the next holding stitches can be made / the holding stitches can be couched…
Schritt 1: Die zweite Ebene von Basis Fäden muss versetzt gelegt werden – auf diese Weise schafft man es Stück für Stück um die Ecke zu kommen / danach können die nächsten Haltestiche gesetzt werden / als nächstes können die Haltestiche wie gewohnt gecouched werden…
Step 1.1 – a new “holding stitch”

Step 1.2 – “couching” the holding stitch
Schritt 1.2 – “couchen” des Haltestiches

Step 2 – for the next base threads I have to look how much I can move (condition: the thread should stay as straight as possible)
Schritt 2 – für die nächsten Basis Fäden musste ich ermitteln, wie weit ich mich mit dem Faden bewegen kann (Voraussetzung: der Faden sollte so gerade wie möglich bleiben)

Step 3 -
if you repeat Step 1+2 you get something like the border of this “shield”
it’s really easy!
Schritt 3 -
wenn die Schritte 1+2 wiederholt werden, bekommt man sowas wie den Rand dieses “Schildes”
es ist wirklich ganz einfach!
