Ok, a friend of mine said that it is not possible to sew a nice cloak/whatever/… within just some days and I thought I should give it a try and proof that it is possible – yeah, you know I love such challenges *lol*
…and here the result – I started on last weeks Wednesday and did my last stitches shortly before the “Schwarzer Reigen” on Saturday 8:50 pm, which just left me enough time for a shower, make up and to get dressed… *lol*
…btw. the idea for this cloak is based on a cloak from the Victorian time and it’s not finished yet, but ready to be used for the “Schwarzer Reigen” and I really think that it is a nice result for the little time I had to create the pattern and to sew it – I think it’s also a nice start for my very first steampunk outfit
No, I had no pattern – I created it by using some linen fabric and my dress form, I just had some photos from a nice cloak from the website Vintagetextile which I can’t show you because it’s already sold and I don’t have the copyright for the pics… btw. the pattern for the sleeves is the same which I used for my blue 14th century wool dress – unfortunatelly I forgot that I constructed the seam for the arm hole very low and therefore the sleeves are much longer than they should be – at the moment I am not sure if I like it and will keep it this way or if I reopen the seams again and fix it – but somehow I like this wavy style of my sleeves… ok, we’ll see…
Just some photos for inspiration, an idea how the pattern could look like and a challenge against myself – a lovely combination
…and because some of my friends wanted photos – here we are, some fast photos taken during my very last preparations before I left for the party… and yeah, it was a great night!
…and no, I didn’t take photos of the creation process – there was not enough time *lol*
…please don’t forget – it’s still not finished yet
