About 4 years ago I gave a “Streichpsalter” including an embroidered bag, which I especially made for this psaltery, to Arnulf, a member of my shire Ad Flumen Caerulum and our current seneschal, because some of his music instruments (including a psaltery) were stolen while he was working at a concert event.
At this time I wasn’t practising my psaltery very often and I knew that it would cost him enough money to replace the other stolen instruments therefore I gave him the psaltery including the bag and just requested a pair of 14th century shoes… You can see the bag on the pictures above and the one on the left side
…and finally, I got my shoes today and I really love them – Thanks, Arnulf
:*
…and yes, the shoes are purple – purple with a pink border!
…and I think they look great with my red 14th century stockings…
colour rulezzz!
…and now I just need some colourful 14th century dresses…
…and “bling bling”
…and the shoes were made by
Ledermanufaktur Thomas Posenanski
ok, the result seems to be not as bad as I was frightened it could be, therefore some pictures of my new smurf hood :
I used the pattern of the book “the medieval tailor’s assistant” at page 201 for “Open hoods, mid 14th century onwards” (and I have to admit that I had not enough fabric left for seam allowance)
I haven’t posted pictures of my finished ‘blue dress’ until now but here they are
…but better late than never
and I hope I will have better pictures of my dress soon and I promise I will post them here
…btw. – I am a very happy person because I didn’t prewash the wool before sewing and I was really glad that the dress survived the washing machine without shrinking (I hate to prewash fabric and because of the embroidery on some clothes I use to wash all my garb as ‘delicates’ or ‘wool’ and ‘cold’ in the washing machine (except my white underdress))
…and once again a short look at my sleeves – I had to insert a small gore at the upper arm because there was not enough fabric left for two whole sleeves.
Livia and I tried the pattern for the close fitting sleeve from the book ‘The Tailors Assistant’ and adapted it a little

…first I wanted to take other buttons, but I decided – after an expert advice from Livia – to take this buttons…
(please take a look at the picture on the left)
…this buttons are a little bigger than the buttons I originally wanted to sew on, but I think they look more interesting

(<- left: Livia and her son Philipp) (<– right: my small ‘terrorist’ named Cleo)
Livia visited me on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday ![]()
We worked together at my blue dress (a big ‘thank you’ @ Livia!!) and I am happy that I was able to help her a little bit with her dress.
We plan to finish more dress- and sewing- projects in the future and therefore we began with Livia’s burgundian dress and with my blue dress…
By the way: I never learned sewing – sewing is for me more like handicrafts *lol* – its good to know that there is someone who really knows what he/she is doing…
… and Livia is the dress- and sewing-specialist of our shire and I am very very glad that she is a member of our shire
At the first picture she is pinning the hemline of her burgundian dress and at the second picture you can see my small ‘terrorist’ at work ![]()
(I think Cleo had many fun with our threads, fabric and needles the last days)
(<—) …at the third picture Livia tried her burgundian dress on (at this photo: dress inside out) for a last control of the hemline.
The last days I was working at the hemline, seams and sleeves of my dress. The hemline and the sleeves are finished now.
It was not easy to make the sleeves because the pieces of fabric – leftover after cutting out the pieces for the dress – were not big enough to cut the sleeves in only one piece of fabric. I had to insert a piece of another leftover at every sleeve to get a full sleeve. I sewed the (left picture) seam-edges of the sleeves to the fabric (and all other seam-edges of the dress) to get a better looking and more even surface next to the seams.

(<—) …more pictures of my work at the sleeves
…and some photos of me inside my new dress:

I have only to finish my front seam (buttons, buttonholes,…) now ![]()
…and I hope there is enough fabric left that I can make a headdress too…
(short note for myself: I should wear a bra under this dress)
…and a picture of my boyfriend making stupid faces while taking the pictures of me (above) *lol*:

Livia (a member of my shire) promised me that she will visit me next week at Monday or Tuesday and will help me with my blue dress project. Together we will try to finish a little bit more of our dress-projects – therefore I tried to work a little bit proactive and I pinned the hemline and the front seam and I hope she will like the result…
…and now back to my embroidery…
(and I look very silly at this photo
I finished most of the neckline today (except a small part of the front at both sides).
…and I have to find another pattern for my sleeves – I pinned one sleeve (good that it was only cut out of the cheep lining fabric) and tried it on and it looks awful (you can’t see a sleeve beside the foldings of the fabric and I would like to have a good looking long sleeve)
*sigh*
