Martina, one of my best friends, hosted a sewing and embroidery evening at her home – she cooked a very good Chili and we girls – Christina, Trixi, Anna and I – brought Apfelstrudel, Ribiselkuchen (red currant cake),… needless to say that in the end we had more cake that we could eat *lol*… eating and drinking apple and orange juice, mineral water, prosecco and wine we had a great sewing and embroidery evening
…Martina was working at her two colored wool cloak, Trixi was knitting, Christina and Anna were working at new dresses – I was happy that I could help Anna to refit her dress a little bit at the top, I tried to explain to Chrisine the construction of a sleeve with overlapping seams but the progress was unfortunately to far to change anything… *sigh* and because Martina was hosting the evening I was able to make some progress concerning my cute dragon – Martina, thank you very much!
…we discussed also the pimp up possibilities of some old skirts – Anna will change a “Trachten” skirt into a cute trouser skirt and Martina will maybe turn some lovely indian fabric (dark green with red borders and much gold and silver decoration) into a modern fancy tunic… and Martina also tried to get rid of some pink fabric that she got – Anna and I liked the color very much and were very happy to take this fabric home…
It was a great evening… and I have to admit that we – Christine, Anna and I – had some additional fun at a children’s playground – three big girls & some swings…
…I really love swinging…
Todays project/sewing/nailbinding/embroidery evening was a lot of fun – Doris brought some spinach-feta-strudel and a garlic-souce – next time we should maybe talk about what we want to cook because unfortunately I also made a spinach-feta-strudel and some Tsaziki *lol* – Livia and Anna also managed to come and in the end everyone enjoyed the spinach-feta-strudel
I searched my books for pictures of sleeves with dagging for Doris, Kareina teached us Nailbinding, Doris had a look into some of my books,… and most important – we had a lot of fun – and that’s how an evening like this should be ![]()
I think Anna was the one of us who understood the Finnish Nailbinding technique which Kareina teached us best and unfortunately for her she will have to practise now and teach us this technique when Kareina is back home in Milano
Such a great evening – I very enjoyed it
…you want to see a pic of my first tries of Nailbinding? No chance! Destroyed! Look awful!
Yesterday we – Evi, Petz, Anna and I – had another very nice sewing and embroidery evening – I cooked “Erdäpfel-Gulasch” for the girls, Evi brought a great pasta salad, Petz brought some Mini-”Mozartkugeln” and Anna brought some ginger for me.
Evi had a look through the books that I bought since her last visit (some years ago), I helped Petz to develope a pattern for a woman’s hose (like the pattern my woman’s hose) and Anna learned to handsew two kinds of “A” seams…
It was a very nice evening and I am sure we will repeat it as soon as possible
…Sybelle, a very nice young lady, had some questions concerning her German Brick Stitch embroidery and therefore I decided to invite her to an extraordinary embroidery evening – this Tuesday, at my place – we had a look through some of my books and I think we found a very good solution how she can convert and insert a Manesse picture into a German Brick Stitch frame… I am very looking forward to see her next progress.
Embroidery & sewing evening today – Erdäpfelgulasch & Marillenkuchen, Martina’s mouse au chocolat, self made earl grey ice-tea, wine, apple juice and last but not least – this time 4 guests
…again a very nice evening – Maria (the lady on the right) and Martina (the second lady from the right) decided that they want to make stockings for themselves at the next embroidery and sewing evening and Martina (the lady in the middle) showed us the beautiful orange dress she is working at…
Embroidery & sewing evening today – Kässpätzle, Tiramisu, Martina’s gefüllte Blätterteigtaschen, self made earl grey & ginger ice-tea, wine, honey-wine, apple juice and last but not least – this time 5 guests
…what a nice evening – … one lady just started with handsewing – it’s a very nice feeling to be helpful for beginners who want to learn handsewing
…my next embroidery and sewing evenings at home: 29.07 & 05.08
…and it looks like many people are going to attend the evenings
Embroidery & sewing evening today – cake, self made earl grey & ginger ice-tea, grapes and 1 guest
I met Trixi at the HGM medieval market last weekend for the first time and she gave me her eMail address
– after all the cancelations I got I was afraid that none of the girls would show up today, but than I got a SMS from Trixi that she is a little bit late – what a nice surprise
Trixi had a look through my books and we talked a lot – I think she enjoyed the evening and I am very looking forward to see her at one of my next embroidery & sewing evenings
Yesterday, after a long time, an embroidery and sewing evening took place at my home
Hanne brought a delicious self made apple strudel and also Anna joined us.
Besides some tea and apple strudel we talked a lot about garb, costuming, embroidery, tablet weaving and the girls looked through my books… – it was a great evening

(<- left: Livia and her son Philipp) (<– right: my small ‘terrorist’ named Cleo)
Livia visited me on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday ![]()
We worked together at my blue dress (a big ‘thank you’ @ Livia!!) and I am happy that I was able to help her a little bit with her dress.
We plan to finish more dress- and sewing- projects in the future and therefore we began with Livia’s burgundian dress and with my blue dress…
By the way: I never learned sewing – sewing is for me more like handicrafts *lol* – its good to know that there is someone who really knows what he/she is doing…
… and Livia is the dress- and sewing-specialist of our shire and I am very very glad that she is a member of our shire
At the first picture she is pinning the hemline of her burgundian dress and at the second picture you can see my small ‘terrorist’ at work ![]()
(I think Cleo had many fun with our threads, fabric and needles the last days)
(<—) …at the third picture Livia tried her burgundian dress on (at this photo: dress inside out) for a last control of the hemline.
The last days I was working at the hemline, seams and sleeves of my dress. The hemline and the sleeves are finished now.
It was not easy to make the sleeves because the pieces of fabric – leftover after cutting out the pieces for the dress – were not big enough to cut the sleeves in only one piece of fabric. I had to insert a piece of another leftover at every sleeve to get a full sleeve. I sewed the (left picture) seam-edges of the sleeves to the fabric (and all other seam-edges of the dress) to get a better looking and more even surface next to the seams.

(<—) …more pictures of my work at the sleeves
…and some photos of me inside my new dress:

I have only to finish my front seam (buttons, buttonholes,…) now ![]()
…and I hope there is enough fabric left that I can make a headdress too…
(short note for myself: I should wear a bra under this dress)
…and a picture of my boyfriend making stupid faces while taking the pictures of me (above) *lol*:

Today was our embroidery evening.
Karin finished her tabletwoven band, Doriana worked on her couching and Arnulf started a complete new projekt
Today I had an embroidery evening at home and 3guests!
Today we had an shire embroidery afternoon and Elfi tried my ‘blue Bayeux dress’ on. The colour and kind of the dress look good on her – I think she will sew her own first medieval dress very soon. (She makes soooooo beautiful tabletweaving and today I could trade with her – one of my first handsewn dresses for a beautiful tabletweaving)…
