Finally finished – 112 hours of sewing and embroidery and I really hope my friend Ebbi likes the result – I am very pleased with it and even thinking about making a hood with daggings and dagged liripipe for myself *lol*

Completely handmade and hand-embroidered small needlebook with a Klosterstich embroidery on front which is based on a small part of a tapestry from the 14th century (here a link to my reproduction/interpretation of the Weiberlisten-Teppich).
The wool used for the Klosterstich embroidery is from Renaissance Dyeing – http://www.renaissancedyeing.com

It took me about 23 hours to embroider and finish this pouch- “Racaire” logo on the inside
Height: ca. 18.0 cm / Width: ca. 15.0 cm
Working time: 23 hours
pattern inspiration: a lovely lion found at the bottom border of the Bayeux-tapestry, a beautiful tapestry from the 11th century
embroidery:
- Bayeux Stitch/Refilsaum, Stem Stitch, Turks Head Knot & Chain Stitch
- border: ‘Finishing the seams of 14th/15th century pouches’
used fabric: linen
Embroidery & Cord thread: Lana Grossa – Basics, “Lauflänge ca. 115m, 100% Baumwolle gasiert, mercerisiert” (Cotton – can be washed in the washing machine: delicates / 30°C / no tumble-dryer, can be ironed)
Cord technique:
- red/white cord: “4. A Lace Baston” (with changed color position for another color pattern)
- blue cord: “2. A Round Lace of 5 Loops”
The cords were made based on the instruction in the book: TAK V BOWES DEPARTED – A 15th Century Braiding Manual Examined
